Brick House Farm received planning consent on October 18th 2022

We are delighted to announce that the proposals for Brick House Solar Farm received planning consent from Shropshire Council on October 18th 2022.

We will continue to engage with the local community in the lead up to the start of construction to ensure the voices of the community remain heard.

Where is Brick House Farm Solar Farm?

The project is situated to the south-west of the hamlet of Greete, approximately 2.2km north-west of Burford. The site covers approximately 54 hectares of agricultural land (predominantly Grade 3B land which is not the best and most versatile for agriculture). Harpfields Farm is positioned to the south-east of the site. The western site boundary is defined by the route of Ledwyche Brook which joins Greet Brook along the southern boundary. An unnamed road is adjacent to the northern boundary in parts. The eastern boundary is defined by mature vegetation and an unnamed road.

It will also offset approximately 11,200 tonnes of CO2 each year, the equivalent to taking around 5,160 cars off the road.

The benefits

• It will assist Shropshire Council in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with national and local targets in response to the Climate Emergency.

• It will contribute towards the security of energy supply in Shropshire through the provision of local, renewable energy supply.

•It will contribute significant annual funds to Shropshire Council through business rates contribution (c£10m over project lifetime).

•A community fund will be established to invest in local projects and initiatives (c£150k).

• Careful consideration has been given to the development to avoid affects on landscape, heritage or ecological designations.

• Public rights of way will be unaffected by the operational solar farm.

•It will have significant net biodiversity benefits.

• This is a temporary development, allowing the land to rest for the period of operation up to 40 years.

• The solar farm will not require Government subsidy.

• Decommissioning and full restoration of the site at the end of the life of the development has been secured via planning condition.
